Urban Portrait Photography Workshop
If you have already completed our Introduction to Portrait Photography workshop or have some basic experience in portrait photography then this urban portrait photography workshop would make a good next step for you. Working with a small group of just 4 participants, our urban portrait photography workshop is an opportunity to hone your understanding of light and posing. We will be using the city centre in Norwich as our location, moving around to make the most of various possible backgrounds and to explore how to respond to the available light.
This session focuses on getting the most out of natural light. We may use reflectors and possibly occasionally some flash if the lighting requires it. But, the main idea is to get used to picking interesting spots with good light for urban portrait photography. It is advisable to have a lens with a wider aperture if you want to be able to blur the background (e.g. f/4 or wider such as a 50mm f/1.8). However, other lenses will also work. You can bring a selection of lenses if you wish. The images on this page are shot with a variety of focal lengths for effect. However, bear in mind that we will be moving around a fair bit so you may not want to carry too much kit. If you are in any doubt about what to bring please drop us a line.
We will look at shooting in aperture priority mode, controlling the ISO and using different metering modes (subject to availability on your camera). Please let us know when booking if you have any mobility issues as we are planning on walking between locations. We will be starting from a location near to a car park in Norwich city centre. The arrangements will be confirmed nearer the time once we have finalised our route for the evening.
Join us for our urban portrait photography workshop & improve your location portrait skills. Book early to avoid disappointment! Only 4 spaces available in total.
