Christmas Lights Portrait Photography Workshop
Our Christmas Lights Portrait Photography Workshop is a fun, seasonal opportunity to try something a little different. We will make the most of the beautiful Christmas lights in Norwich city centre to create some sparkling scenes. You will learn how to use flash for outdoor night portraits as well as how to use flash gels to balance light or add colour. Your tutor will be multiple international award-winning professional photographer Joe Lenton. Past and current students include other professional photographers from the Norwich/Norfolk area. Joe will help you to ensure that you have the skills necessary to create your own great images and the knowledge to recreate the lighting setup for yourself. This is very much an educational workshop designed to help you grow and create. You will not be simply waiting in line for a dozen others to take images. Our small group is ideal for rapid learning, asking questions and making progress.
You will need your own camera (preferably a DSLR or equivalent) with a wide-aperture lens. We recommend using a lens with a maximum aperture of at least f/2.8 – a prime 1.8 or 1.4 lens would be ideal. Speedlights (flash) will be provided on the night along with triggers. It is recommended that you have some experience of portrait photography before trying this workshop. Please come prepared for the weather as it can get cold standing around late in the evening in December. You will need to know how to adjust the aperture, shutter speed and ISO manually on your camera. This will be a small group with limited places so please book quickly to avoid disappointment. We normally only run this workshop once a year so don’t miss out! Modelling for us will be professional model Ann-Marie (featured in the images on this page from a previous year’s Christmas workshop). Ann-Marie is very experienced and has been published numerous times.
